Who Are We? | Member Series | Angela Brey - Empower Fair Trade

Angela Brey from Empower Fair Trade became a seed member because she strongly supports the values of the Clipper City Co-op, community development, sustainable organic agriculture, transparent and ethical supply chains and supporting small farmers to name just a few.

I started my business in 2010 after a mission trip to India and met some women in the slums that were involved in a sort of micro loan program to start their own businesses, some received training in embroidery other skills and made handicrafts. When I got back to US, I researched selling items like that to help and stumbled upon fair trade, which means, fair wages for artisans, safe workplaces, eco-friendly and sustainable, no child or slave labor. I have had the full time store since July 2014 and sell both global and local ethically sourced items. Organic foods, upcycled goods. I think that most of my customers would also be part of the co-op, supporting local, small farmers, organic, ect., same ideologies.

The "Who Are We? Member Series" posts highlight new seed members and give readers and other members some insight on why others have joined. Everyone has their personal reasons for joining, what are yours?
