What is happening right now?

On August 13, 2013 Clipper City Co-op incorporated as a cooperative business in the state of Wisconsin. Obtained our very own EIN from the Internal Revenue Service and we have officially filed our first tax return in 2014.  Since then we have continued to raise funds for a feasibility and marketing study, through grants and ongoing small fund-raising and sale of our awesome T-Shirts, grocery bags and other local items, such as soap and tea and buttons.  You can check out our "Shop and Support" page to see how awesome they are.

In June of 2015, Food Cooperative Initiative (FCI) awarded Clipper City Co-op with a $10,000 matching grant.   With this generous grant, Clipper City Co-op contracted with Dakota Worldwide, a Natural Foods Grocer marketing and feasibility consultant and completed the first steps towards feasibility.  We are proud to announce that, Clipper City Co-op is a feasible business endeavor and we've moved forward with continuing our owner-member drive.  The Clipper City Co-op steering committeed, developed a time-line, based on a time-tested co-op business development action plan, assisted by FCI consultant, Jacqualine Hannah.

Community involvement is a top priority for us, so we'll continue to meet and greet members of the community at events, as well as plan house parties for a more intimate engagement with people from the community, who share our enthusiasm for a future food co-op in Manitowoc county.   You can check out our Events Calendar" page for future and past events.

Who is behind this effort?

The Steering Committee came together after several informational sessions, where the community was invited to provide input and participate in organizing a steering committee to bring our dreams to create a future food  co-op for Manitowoc County, to a reality. The first meeting of the co-op steering committee took place in March of 2013, with 7 people committed to developing a co-op grocery model for Manitowoc County.  We created a Facebook page, that has exceeded our expectations and confirmed to us that residents of Manitowoc County share our dream and reflect our passion.

Currently we have 6 members of the steering committee, who meet twice monthly on Monday evenings from 6:00 - 7:30pm. working to make the dream a reality. We're following the expertise of and time-tested Food Cooperative Initiative development model, and supported by other successful cooperatives around the county.  The Steering Committee members are:  Cath Pape, Albert Sears, Kim Everett, Mary Larson, Megan Marchant and Jill Iverson and our many dedicated volunteers and owners, who help in so many ways.  If you're interested in joining our team, visit out Volunteer page and contact our community relations chair, Cath Pape
